Ice detection on Northern Sea Route

We will see a new record in ships passing through Northern Sea Route during 2014.

You could pass through the Northern Sea Route without Ice Breaker assistance,
if you have an Ice Strengthened ship, with permission from the Northern Sea Route Administration. You will of course have a Qualified Ice Pilot for NSR on board.

The Ice conditions on the NSR has opened up for sailings. It could be beautiful ....

The Master of this Ice Strengthened SCF Tanker can easily detect the small Ice Pieces (Growlers) they are sailing through here, and continue doing good speed.
Optical visibility is good. The Ice Pilot would easily guide them through.

The weather in the Arctic changes by the minute, it could be more challenging
just a few hours ahead. You would welcome IceBreaker assistance.

Ice Detection.
This is when you do need your RADAR-Technology Ice radar to detect all Ice Pieces within reach. You are looking for very small Growlers, Bergy Bits, Ice Bergs, Ice Floes
and of course how the Ice bed looks like ahead .... during the Arctic Darkness.
Last but not least - when you are operating in Arctic Fog.

The new RADAR-Technology Ice radar is developed truly for Ice Detection, with
a NEW antenna & transceiver. It is a full radar system, including our new optimized Ice Detection display system. Ice Detection is very complex, from detecting
the frozen Ice bed to very small Ice Pieces (Growlers) surfing the Arctic Ocean.

De-icing technology.
RADAR-Technology radar antennas can be equipped with built-in de-icing technology.
When the rest of the vessel or platform is covered by ice or frost, RADAR-Technology Ice radar is still operating, detecting without being interfered by ice or frost.

Complies with DNV GL new Winterization Rules for ships, effective 1 January 2014.

Winterization.

Our transceiver is winterized to perform at extremely cold temperatures.
The cables are safely connected to the up-mast transceiver unit,
designed to perform down to extremely cold temperatures.

Ice Pilot interface.
RADAR-Technology Ice radar could be operated by the Ice Pilots.
The Ice radar is operated by a similar display system as the navigational radar.
It is easy to operate, which would be useful for an Ice Pilot coming on board
for the passage through the Northern Sea Route.

RADAR-Technology Ice radar provide a high degree of detection probability
also of small ice pieces, that traditionally are difficult to see in a radar image.
